JOSH QUIRION
Editor-in-Chief
Josh Quirion is from the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. He holds an M.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from Concordia University. Quirion's debut collection Towners & Other Stories (2020) was published by Shoreline Press. His writing has appeared in The Malahat Review and Prairie Fire, among others. He lives in Montreal.
CHELSEA MOORE
Managing Editor
Chelsea Moore is most definitely snacking on knockoff candies from the local corner store and rewriting old lines, awaiting that "ah-ha!" moment. She was raised in Thailand where stories told by her local heroes and quiet moments in strangers' kitchens replaced the Grimm brothers in her childhood. Since she landed here three years ago, she has been torn in the debate between Montreal and Toronto. However, Chelsea knows that wherever she ends up she'll always find the hidden stories and tell them to whoever will listen.
CURTIS JOHN MCRAE
Creative Director
Curtis John McRae's (he/him) fiction has appeared in Prairie Fire, Soliloquies Anthology, Chronicling the Days (Guernica Editions, 2021), and others. He swears that while writing one night, he levitated from his chair. Curtis has worked as a freelance proofreader for VĂ©hicule Press, an intern journalist for Blue Metropolis, and was a finalist in the 2019 QWF contest for emerging young writers. A Concordia University fellowship recipient, he is currently completing his MA in Creative Writing.
ALEXANDRE
MARCEAU
Fiction Editor
Alexandre Marceau is continuously searching for stories—the pulse—in the moss, trees and leaves that grow tall from the soil's roots. It is at the confluence of the St. Francis and Massawippi Rivers, while perusing Bishop's University's archive, where he discovered that literary timelines, much like veins, carry the elements that compose a regional body's identity. Alexandre's fiction has appeared—or is forthcoming—in The Inkwell, From Arthur's Seat, The Mitre, and the QWF's Chronicling the Days, an anthology by Guernica Editions, and others. He is the 2020-2021 recipient of the Beaverbrook Canadian Foundation Scholarship, and is currently completing his MSc in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh. Many of Alexandre's musings stem from his time spent outside, either rock climbing, snowboarding, or running.
ENNIE GLOOM
Poetry Editor
Ennie Gloom (she/her) is a poet and a Scorpio currently living in Montreal with her two cats: Pluto and Stevie. Her writing focuses on girlhood, surrealism, and sardines. Ennie has been published in Yiara Magazine, Graphite Publications, and yolk before she hacked into their system ("I'm in!"). Ennie is currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree in English Literature and Creative Writing with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies in Sexuality at Concordia University. Beyond this, she enjoys reading tarot cards at funerals, asking people what celebrity they're most often compared to, and being a loving mother to her 73 children.
SPENCER NAFEKH
Non-Fiction Editor
Spencer is a spectral figure in his third year of the Honours in English and Creative Writing program at Concordia University. He is probably the result of an incantation devised by an ancient magician-priest from the House of Life in the Temple of Edfu. When he's not cooking stir-fries or engaging in self-loathing, he's writing album reviews and concert coverage for Exclaim! magazine or theConcordian, and creating surreal pieces of short fiction. Spencer has no idea what will happen after he graduates, but he will be writing vehemently until the day he ceases to exist.
SEAN SMALLWOOD
Visual Arts Editor
Sean Smallwood is from Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. He always has a camera on him and shoots film, however he would shoot digital if someone would just kindly give him a digital camera. A man of few words, Sean spends much of his free time in the darkroom. He enjoys reading home improvement books.
Josh Quirion
Editor-in-Chief
Josh Quirion is an Eastern Township born recovering frat-boy and byproduct of the blockbuster era. He completed his M.A. in creative writing at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, where he presently resides and works the ol' corporate 9-5er. During his formative years, Quirion maintained that reading was a bootless diversion. Though he was not always sympathetic towards words, each one of his days begins now at 5:30 a.m. with reading, writing, and percolated coffee.
Curtis McRae
Creative Director
Curtis McRae is a superstitious writer who enjoys living with his black cat, walking under ladders, and self-sabotage. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, and still doesn't know which cheek to kiss when greeting someone. He swears that while writing one night, he levitated from his chair. Curtis's fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Prairie Fire, Soliloquies Anthology, the QWF Chronicling the Days series, an anthology by Guernica Editions, and others. Curtis has worked as a journalist for Blue Metropolis and was a finalist in the Quebec Writers' Federation 2019 contest for emerging young writers. He was awarded a fellowship from Concordia University, where he is currently completing his M.A. in Creative Writing.
Alexandre Marceau
Fiction Editor
Alexandre Marceau is continuously searching for stories – the pulse – in the moss, trees and leaves that grow tall from the soil's roots. It is at the confluence of the St. Francis and Massawippi Rivers, while perusing Bishop's University's archive, where he discovered that literary timelines, much like veins, carry the elements that compose a regional body's identity. These manifestations of experience, clothed in form and colour, convey what he believes to be the most complicated simplicity: We all experience different versions of very similar stories. Many of Alexandre's musings stem from his time spent outside rock climbing and snowboarding. Those are his moments of infinite liberation.
Sean Lee
Social Media Manager & Graphic Designer
Sean Lee is a poet straining to bridge a nocturnal lifestyle with daytime demands after discovering the limited availability of mozzarella at 4:00 a.m. He uses poetry to uncover the small drama in shared experience. As a biracial anglophone Montrealer with a lousy sense of direction, he's looking for home wherever he goes. An unambiguous agnostic and political junkie, Sean is great in groups of 3-7.

Sarah Manuszak
Copy Editor
Sarah Manuszak slid into yolk's DMs with an Infinite Jest meme one fine Sunday afternoon. After reading her account on "The Queer Story of James McGill," the folk at yolk knew they wanted Sarah to occupy a spot on their masthead. She now serves as the journal's copy editor, and when she is not inserting oxford commas into stories, she is finding the typos in crossword puzzles, listening to her favourite music with her cat, and attempting to make the perfect pour-over. Sarah concurrently serves as the Arts & Culture Editor at The Bull & Bear.

SEAN LEE
SEAN LEE
Communications & Social Media Manager
Sean Lee is a Communications & Cultural Studies graduate from Concordia University. He's a poet, sometimes. He's a political junkie, usually. As Social Media Manager, Sean works to bring yolk's publication, content, and activities to the community we've got—helping to get the artists we publish in front of as many people as possible. His creative work deals with compulsion and quotidian fantasies. His ordinary work deals, most often, with finicky web design suites, obtuse graphic design tools, engagement analysis software, and lots of caffeine.
